Two unlicensed gambling venues in Doncaster were raided on July 22, 2026, resulting in eight arrests. The operation targeted unauthorized gaming establishments across South Yorkshire.
Officers recovered just under £9,000 in cash during the searches. The premises also contained poker tables, slot machines and account books. One individual was detained for violations of the Gambling Act 2005, while the remaining seven faced immigration-related charges.
Multi-Agency Enforcement Operation
The inspections were coordinated by the Gambling Commission alongside Immigration Enforcement and South Yorkshire Police. Local trading standards and licensing divisions from the City of Doncaster council participated in the joint initiative. The combined effort aims to identify and close unauthorized gambling establishments operating without proper permits.Source: Richard Hollis.
